Wildhero Project

Long Story Short
Problem
Solution
Further Testing
The business goal was to retain more users during the onboarding process by leading them to “Your forest” section and accelerate customer acquisition.
The problem scope was to motivate users to explore the Wildhero interface during the onboarding process.
After creating a user journey and testing with users, the insights found included some gaps in technical constraints and issues, and overall awareness on what the extension and company, Wildhero, does.
The end result were lo-fi wireframes and potential ideas for next iterations of the extension interface.
Conduct usability tests on tree planting (drag v. click) and use card sorting and first click tests to resolve confusion around "Your Forest" and "Your Trees" and community impact placement.
Test gamification feedback and audit dark mode readability

Problem Scope
The main pain points of the Wildhero extension were:
Users were unsure how to earn and plant new trees through actions on their Gmail account.
Additionally, users were unable to follow up with disconnection errors when loading gamification features to plant their trees.
Struggled to find certain features on the Wildhero interface as well as understanding what data was being used versus what was not being taken.

Journey Mapping
Chrome extension onboarding and activation vary: Honey, Grammarly, and Treeclicks require early account creation with guided tours, while Idleforest and Wildhero have minimal onboarding and instant activation. Value visibility and gratification also differ, with Grammarly showing immediate benefits, Idleforest being passive, and Honey, Treeclicks, and Wildhero offering delayed rewards based on user actions.
Users of the Wildhero extension experienced pain points with unclear onboarding, technical limitations (Gmail-only use and forest feature issues), and uncertainty about their impact. Opportunities include simplifying onboarding, enhancing gamification and social engagement, and increasing transparency around privacy and user impact.
